Shock and amaze unsuspecting initiates into the world of metallurgical wonders. Tungsten, copper, titanium, iron, and aluminum alloy cube set. 1" x 1" x 1". Tungsten is very high density and surprisingly heavy, especially when compared to the other cubes. Compare and contrast the various properties of these perfectly formed cubes. Great conversation pieces. Machined from aerospace grade alloys, these cubes are an excellent contemporary addition for your desk at work or side table at home. Surprise your colleagues and friends with the cubes' difference in density. Cool elegance with cerebral spice

While I agree with another reviewer that the cubes would have greater significance (and probably cost) if they were all made of 100% pure elements, this attractive set is a very nice alloy of art, design, and physics. My wife and I got it as a birthday gift for my wife's son, who is a chemistry professor.

    Cool, nerdy desk decoration

Well made, thoroughly packed (I was actually a bit amused how much padding there was protecting these *cubes of solid metal* from damage in transit), nice conversation piece.

The biggest downside IMO is that the cubes are alloys and not pure elements. While this probably makes the cubes more durable and cheaper to make, the science nerd appeal would be greater with elementally pure materials, available in some other products here.

The most significant difference is with the tungsten cube which is (as clearly stated in the description) tungsten carbide, which has only 81 % the density of pure tungsten. While it is definitely surprisingly heavy especially compared to aluminium and titanium, I'm left somewhat missing the real thing. Maybe I'll buy some pure stuff next :)

I give this 5 starts for its outstanding and nice looking. I´m also thinking about buying your 2 inch set of aluminia and wolfram.
