    Cosmic Cube

    The cube is an interestingly awesome specimen to behold and marvel at the idea that such an element exists. To hold it in hand is to appreciate the cosmos that forged these particular atoms that cannot be substituted by atoms of any other element. Tungsten in and of itself is one of the densest naturally occurring elements. Furthermore, the element of tungsten is special in that it is one of the heaviest solid substances that could be held without chemical burns, poisoning or radioactivity excluding gold of course. As for the cube itself, in terms its composition the cube is made from 95% Tungsten, 3.5% Nickel and 1.5% Iron. Tungsten itself cannot form an actual alloy with either iron or nickel because both of these elements would evaporate or turn into a gas at lower temperatures than what it would take for tungsten to melt. Thus, it is most likely the case that the manufacturing process of making the cube would be the addition of tungsten powder to molten iron and nickel that would allow for the alloy metal to form. The addition of these alloying elements improves both the ductility and machinability of alloyed tungsten over non-alloyed tungsten, which can be brittle by itself. Given the cube’s composition, this also makes the cube ferromagnetic or able to be attracted to magnets. As for the cube itself, it is a perfectly well crafted and machined to precise measurements. The edges of the cube are chamfered and rounded while the surface of the cube has a brushed texture finish. In addition, there is also the inclusion of a polycarbonate stand on which the cube is displayed upon. Overall, I think that it’s a very dense and satisfyingly fascinating object that will be a great addition to anyone’s collection of mysterious items.
